Thomas Rowell 23/02/1999 age 70 years retired miner lived in Aycliffe
Crescent, Springwell Estate Gateshead married to Jean for almost 51 years 5 children 13
grandchildren & 1 great- grandchild at time of death.Thomas died with great dignity from cancer
Thomas was my dad im the youngest of his 5 children my dad was a very brave man, he was a great dad
& grandad to us all, he had a dry sense of humour & was always fun to be with. He loved a pint at
his local workingmans clubs the Thomas Wilson in Lowfell, the Windy Nook club & The Hollyhill Club
in Felling. He loved life & lived it to the full until he became ill,he was always working in his
garden & his greenhouse,he loved old music. We always had to watch Al Jolson films you used to sing
your head off you knew all the words,mind so did us kids because heard the songs so many times if
not on telly or record it was you singing them, you never did let us watch Top The Pops in peace you
always said the songs were tourture,when we look back we laugh about this but at the time it wasnt
funny when there was a song we wanted to listern too you talked all the way through it.We Miss all
this but we have great Memories of our childhood You were SIMPLY THE BEST DAD ANYONE COULD WANT & WE
LOVED YOU SO MUCH. He loved his dogs had many
dogs over the years also he used to breed budgies & rabbits, he also had tropical fish.We all had a
great life he was always life & soul of our family with his daft sayings.my dad was raised in
leadgate & lowfell,he had 1 sister but she sadly died at the age of 9 years.my dad died of cancer
but he never complained or moaned he tried so hard to fight this but sadly the cancer beat him.he
has left a big gap in our family he will always be loved & never forgotton it was very difficult to
watch a strong man slip away from us so fast.but im sure he will be watching us & guiding us just as
he did when he was here..we miss him so much till we meet him again we will always remember the
great memories of the greatest dad anyone could ask for.im sure you will be having all your family &
friends thats you have joined laughing just as you did here..i need to ask a favour again dad look
after baby skye for us shes your great-granddaughter,michaellas not coping to well but im sure with
the strength from you & skye she will get through this difficult time also with the help from all of
us, with all our love from wife jean,daughters joan,maureen & elaine sons terry & john
daughter-in-laws,son-in laws your 13 grandchildren & 21 great-grandchildren.Dad im sure there will
plenty laughter up there with you x x x

I sat beside your bedside, my heart was crushed and sore, I felt so helpless that I could do no more. With tears I watched you sinking and saw you fade away, though my heart was breaking I knew you couldn't stay. If you have a Dad, love him while he's there because you will never know the value until you see his vacant chair.
Special thoughts of a one so dear, to love to hold to keep you near, you're special smile, your love so rear, is ours to keep through out the year. a dream
I feel I must tell you all, about my dream last night. I dreamt that I met all our loved ones. The adult angels were dancing with all the little angels. It was so lovely. My own little daughter was held in Kristians arms. (a young man from GTS). The all looked so happy. Fiona held her little arms out to me. I got a long longed for cuddle of my precious little baby girl. They are happy. Before I woke, they told me they had to go back. I didnt want to wake up. Its was beautiful, but I cried so much when I did wake up. Our angels are at peace, and most of all they are happy. I just know they are. I talked to my two nephews Joseph and Christopher, and I finally got to meet my brother who past away before I was even born. What a wonderful experience, but sad, too. You suffered much in silence, your spirit did not bend, you faced your pain with courage until the very end. You tried so hard to stay with us, your fight was all in vain, God took you in His loving arms and saved you from your pain.
